It is a clear, colourless fruit brandy traditionally made from double distillation of morello cherries, a dark-coloured variety of sour cherries. However, unlike other types of brandy that are often aged in wood casks, Kirsch is not aged, which contributes to its clear appearance.
This unique brandy hails from the Black Forest region of Germany and the Alsace region of France, though it's made and enjoyed in several other regions as well.
